I love this section and the people who create simple to complex homebrew things in it for the Genesis. Will the Wolfenstein 3d Lynx game be released as a Lynx cart or must I buy a flashcart for the Lynx. Besided i dont think this project is gonna try such heavy engine alterations, from what i have read, and i dont think it needs to.īut i agree with you that it would be cool to have more similar mode 7ish type effects on the Genny, just to show off to SNES fans, hehe.Thank you saturndual32 for your reply. Yeah, well, the arcade TMNT TIT had the Neon Night Riders level without mode 7 effects, and i wouldnt say it played any worst than the SNES mode 7 version of it, actually it played better. There are videos on youtube of it doing mode 7 type stuff in software, and there is even a Wolfenstein 3d port in the works, which so far is pretty amazing for a 1989 portable system.īut i agree with you that it would be cool to have more similar mode 7ish type effects on the Genny, just to show off to SNES fans, hehe. Yeah, the Lynx can do some pretty awesome things. Oh, and the Lynx cant do background rotation in hardware, its only sprite scaling it does. However a real pain will be to put the mode 7 TMNT TIT stage in, while impossible to have mode 7 on the genesis, it does have examples of "close to a mode 7 capability aka programmer skills" but not actual mode 7 however creating that level would be a pain.Yeah, well, the arcade TMNT TIT had the Neon Night Riders level without mode 7 effects, and i wouldnt say it played any worst than the SNES mode 7 version of it, actually it played better. And wow the 1987 (released 1989) Lynx could do it. Well why not, people copied Mario Kart ha. Imagine a "Sega Wings" game with sonic on a kite, and Alex Kid on an umbrella, and tails just being tails, and Altered Beast Dragon phase flapping wings all in 1 sega cd game or something. It says mode 7 could be used for different effects but I only saw perspective type effects on snes but I'm no expert. I'm not technically smart like you guys, but isn't mode 7 (could have called it anything) just a scaling and rotating background layer from a snes chip that is easier for programmers to use (since hardware of snes has it, it makes it more handy for developers / programmers) to add such effects thus helps get a game created faster (that used scaling rotation) ? Perhaps I typed that wrong. "TMNT HH is nothing but a diet coke version of snes TMNT TIT anyway !" - SNES FBOY. I know it would be technically a pain, but I agree a 3 frame animation "foot soldier thrown towards tv screen" will hush snes fboys up a bit. Cool project!, thanks for sharing the progress. With all these great people in this section of sega 16 making great things like this, the genesis does what snes did and then some.
